COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
TEACHING AND VOLUNTEERING
WORKSHOPS
One of my favorite ways to share my love of quilts and stitching is to teach others.
My teaching philosophy encourages participants to experiment and improvise, and to embrace imperfections.
Coming from a tradition of frontier quilters in the American mountain west, I believe in using what we already have, celebrating our capacity to solve problems creatively and collaboratively. Sometimes the piece of cloth added to make up a deficit of color, or to "make-do," can turn out to be the most beautiful part of the quilt.
The students in my Amsterdam workshops in brought fabrics from home to up-cycle into modern lap quilts.

Participants in a Group Quilt project at the Framer Framed Open Atelier made individual quilts blocks with the theme of "Friendship" and combined them into one large and stunning quilt, illustrating the diversity and inclusivity of their group.
