I constructed this traditional Kaleidoscope pattern out of a carefully curated collection of fabrics chosen for evoking some reminiscence of my father. Many are found fabrics, cut from deconstructed shirts or pajamas. Some are fabric store purchases selected to coordinate. I used anything I could find that made me think of Dad, limiting myself to warm rich tones with masculine vintage prints.

I "hid" lots of surprises in this quilt, fussy-cutting interesting motifs from larger prints, like birds, postage stamps, fountain pens, and small blocks of text. |
