Quilts
Railroad
My first quilt. I strongly connect with the tradition of American pioneer quilting, in which every scrap of discarded fabric was salvaged and turned into a precious object of function and beauty. Run out of brown for your binding? Fill in with a streak of silver-gray. Unexpected anomalies in the pattern are what make handmade quilts special. Sometimes a choice made in the spirit of making-do can be the one quirky detail that brings the piece to life. |
